Roberto Soldado's Fantasy Credentials

Spurs have completed the transfer that fans have wanted to see for years now, a proper quality centre forward, costing them a hefty club-record £26m.  He's been given the no. 9 shirt.

Tactics blog Spurs Fanatic has some insight on how Soldado will impact Tottenham. We'll summarise for you:

  • Fits in with Villas-Boas playstyle of threading the ball through to a wider runner (Bale, Lennon) allowing them a direct run on goal (Bale) or to the by-line for a low cut-back to the centre (Lennon to Bale/Defoe)
  • Soldado thrives on these kind of cut backs and balls through the inside channels, as well as anticipating blocked or saved shots.
  • 24 goals and 4 assists in 33 games last season for Valencia in La Liga. 17 goals in 29 games plus 3 assists the season before
  • Takes Penalties
  • It's all good!

Fantasy Premier Leauge have priced Soldado at £9.5m, the same as City's new boys Jovetic and Negredo, and just a little above the likes of Sturridge and Benteke.

We'll think he'll do great, but the Bale situation needs clearing up first before he's a real contender.
