GW4 Top Points and Performances

Welcome to our review of the all the GW4 action and look at the key statistics to help you with your Fantasy Premier League team.

We'll go through the top scoring players from FPL and also look at our xPt Player Ratings from GW4,

Top Points
In terms of fantasy points scored the highlights are Sigurdsson, Ben Arfa and Ramsey. We have talked about the latter two in more detail here, but in summary we don't fancy Ben Arfa to continue this scoring run over Newcastle's tough run of games and if you're thinking of transferring him this week you've probably missed most of this points.

Ramsey looks to be playing a genuine attacking role for Arsenal and with strong fixtures to come and the Gunner's goal-scoring pedigree he'll continue to do well. He's worth a place in your team at £5.7m, especially if your team is in rude health, that is you don't have any expensive duds or injuries to deal with.

Sigurdsson is certainly capable of scoring goals. He's done it for a couple of seasons now, but his gametime is seriously under threat from all Spur's shiny new toys. We were surprised to see him start here and he has to compete with Townsend, Lamela and Chadli for a spot. He's a 50-50 risk/reward for us, and again if your overall team is healthy he could be a decent flair pick.

Top Performances
Giroud, Sturridge and Benteke have all been tremendous this season and if you started GW1 with all three then hats off to you.  Giroud and Sturridge's xPts performances were solid enough for their points, both getting sufficient chances in good positions. Benteke was not so great, he had just the 1 shot against Newcastle, a header from a set-piece. One shot is all it takes to score though but you really want your striker to be getting more clean cut chances.

In terms of attacking performances this weekend Wayne Rooney stands out. His 5 shots, 2 on target,2 from Zone A/B (6 yard box/central penalty area) plus 3 key passes puts him top of our attacking ratings and above Giroud in 2nd and Van Persie in 5th. Rooney certainly appears to be a great option at £10.5m and an alternative to RVP. He could be a very big player this season in #FPL.

Chelsea's Eto'o made his debut and was unlucky not to score. He had 6 shots in total, 4 of which in great positions. He looked off the pace though. Once he gains Premier League level match fitness he'll be one to watch.

Finally, Michu's first start alongside Bony showed that the Spaniard's goal threat is not reduced. Both players had chances to score, 10 between them, but Michu with 6 shots was the more dominant and of course got a goal.

We Love Defenders
Defenders continue to rack up the points and it's refreshing to not just go super-cheap at the back in FPL this season. Patrice Evra tops our rankings overall this week and continues to create chances and post a threat on goal. Rio Ferdinand looks a great option at £5.5m too. Southampton's defence has proved to be the cut-price hit we thought it would be although this has come at a knock to their attack. Everton's defending has been superb all season and they secured this week's clean sheet with grit and determination rather than playing keep-ball. Coleman and Baines look solid for many more points. Spurs also look strong defensively, perhaps more likely to secure clean sheets than lots of goals. Kyle Walker is capable of points at both ends.
