GW1-6 FPL Player Ratings

We've updated our Player Ratings for GW6 and for the season so far. The ratings are based on a player's underlying stats only and estimate how likely a player is to score goals and assists based on quality and quantity of shots and chances created, plus bonus points and clean sheets.

The team above has been picked from the players with the highest ratings. We stuck to normal game rules of selecting just 3 player from each team and as a result Soldado and Paulinho were omitted for Barkley and Lambert.

This team would have 386 points in FPL over GW1-6 and be ranked just inside the top 10,000 overall in the game without making any transfers or funny business like that. It's quite significant really that a Best XI determined by our player ratings can do so well and goes to show how useful stats can be to support you team decisions.

Who misses out?

  • John Terry is the game's highest scoring defender with 43 points and is the 7th higehst defender in our ratings.
  • Yaya Toure and Robbie Brady are perhaps the biggest points of contention in the stats at the moment, ranked 8th and 15th amongst midfielders respectively but 2nd and 3rd for points in game. The ratings don't do a great job of estimating set-piece and penalty potential.
  • Rickie Lambert is only the 12th highest point scorer amongst forwards, behind big players like Aguero and Rooney. It's fair to say he's been a bit unfortunate in front of goal.
