Gameweek 6 Captains - Smart Money and Astute Picks

Welcome to our low-down on the best Fantasy Premier captain choices for Gameweek 6.

The Smart Money - Wayne Rooney

With Van Persie rated by Moyes as an 'outside chance' this week's Smart Money is on Wayne Rooney to lead the line for Manchester United versus West Brom at Old Trafford. With RVP out Rooney's stock is significantly higher. He's likely to be involved with corners, free-kicks and penalties. He's in great form too of course and looks hungry to re-establish himself as the top dog in English football.

Astute Picks - Giroud and Ozil

The keen-eyed FPL manager will have noticed that West Brom's defence, even away from home, is pretty good and they'll arrive at Old Trafford with limited ambition hoping to make life hard for United. On the contrary Swansea's footballing philosophy, particularly at home, is to go for goals and the win. Arsenal are the in-form goal-scoring team in Premier League at the moment and Giroud in particular is likely to score.

The Flair Picks - Lukaku and Suarez

Romelu Lukaku needs no introduction and should make his full league debut for Everton against Newcastle. Everton's attack has been a bit hit and miss, as to has Newcastle's defence. Handing Lukaku your FPL armband this week will be the same.

Another player needing no introduction is Luis Suarez. A look at Sunderland's home defence record and Liverpool's attacking stats away from Anfield suggest goals for Liverpool are on the cards. The return of Suarez will give Liverpool's attack a much-needed spark and both he and Sturridge will have great chances to score.

Our Captain

If Van Persie's injury precludes him from starting Wayne Rooney looks to be the no-nonsense choice for GW6 but we would not have any great concern if captaining our Arsenal or Liverpool players.

We're between Rooney and Giroud for our own team. You can find out who by signing up for our free newsletter.
