GW8 Captains - Smart Money and Astute Picks

Boom
The Smart Money
There's no stopping Romelu Lukaku from getting the smart money vote ahead of Everton's home clash with Hull this weekend. He's the most transferred player over the international break, tops captain polls across various sites and is the runaway leader in our own statistical point forecasts for GW8.

The Belgian has a mighty 40% dominance of Everton's best goal scoring chances so far and our analysis suggests this fixture would yield about 1.7 goals on average for the Toffees. This basically means is that if Lukaku played Hulll 100 times he'd score about 85 goals.

Olivier Giroud is the other 'obvious pick' and looks to be the bookies favourite for an anytime goal across the few betting sites we've checked. RVP, Suarez, Sturridge all feature highly of course.

Astue Pick
We can't really mention Lukaku again can we? Instead we look to Michu who statistically speaking is second only to the aforementioned Belgian  Michu has grown in influence this season with Swansea and the presence of Bony has not dented his goal threat. Learned readers will also recall he fared better last season playing behind a striker where allowed a bit more freedom from the attention of the opposition's defence. He should be buzzing from his debut for Spain this week too.

Flair Pick
If we wanted to take a captain punt this week (which we don't) then we'd look to Chelsea and first at John Terry. Earlier this week we identified the Blue's captain among the most likely players to pick up Bonus Points and the visit of Cardiff is GW8's most likely clean sheet. Guaranteed 9 points then, right?

If captaining a defender terrifies you (and it should) then any of their attacking players will do instead. But herein lies the problem, there's no obvious pick. Oscar? Hazard? Eto'o?? Hazard has the edge in our projections but still comes in behind Terry and Ivanovic.
