GW8 Top Points and Performances

Although GW8 is not yet over (Palace vs Fulham tonight) we feel it's fair to say Sergio Aguero has done enough to stamp his mark on this week's Fantasy Premier League action as we look at the players with the most points from the weekend.

Most Points
Eden Hazard was the weekend's top points scorer with 18 points and it's about time really. It adds to his goal from the bench last week and means that, from out of nowhere, he's the 5th highest scoring midfielder with 43 pts, 2 pts behind Oscar, and averaging 6.3 points per 90 minutes. He was one of the most fancied players during pre-season but has seen almost half a million sales since GW1. In a post last week we suggested the transfers you don't make are almost as important as the ones you do. Case in point.

Sergio Aguero (16 points) is another player with obvious and massive potential to your fantasy football team and was one of the stand out players of 2011/12. After a disappointing campaign last year confidence in Aguero was lost. Now though, under a more attacking couch than Mancini ever was, City are not having a disappointing campaign, at least not in terms of scoring goals. The chief concern with Aguero is rotation - and yes, this will happen. Consider though that he was subject to rotation in 2011/12 too, but started 31 games and racked up 211 points.  Sharing the love is David Silva, vastly overlooked in FPL at the moment and benefiting greatly from Aguero's and City's return to goalscoring form.

Mesut Özil left the assists to Giroud but added a couple of goals to his game. He will always remain centred around creating chances but the way Arsenal are playing there'll always be goals to share around the front players. In our latest point projections (before this game) he's the highest placed Arsenal player and the highest placed midfielder. Just behind him in the Arsenal team is Aaron Ramsey, who put in another outstanding display rewarded by a goal and assist.

Kevin Mirallas is another player was hotly tipped pre-season and with whom some patience perhaps would have paid off, although not to quite the same degree as with Hazard. Ranked 11th of all mids and averaging 4.5 points per game, Mirallas has potential of course, but a lot of this is already factored into his price. His performances so far are not on a par with other players cheaper than him.

Robert Soldado is another players whose ownership has seen something of a mass exodus since a couple of penalty goals early doors, not least due to an unexpected benching last week. He's stuck in there though, and is now has the 5th most points amongst forwards.

GW8 Player Ratings
We've updated the numbers for GW8 and will update the cumulative stats once Palace/ Fulham is out the way. Later in the week we will have a review of these latest stats and ratings as well as taking a closer look at some of the players mentioned here plus others to catch the eye like Adam Lallana.
