If A Computer Played FPL... [GW10]

Our FPL team based on projections

In last week's newsletter we entered a real team into the Fantasy Premier League game where the player selection was done entirely by using our FPL Point Projections.

This is not to be confused with our Best Projected 'Team of the Week' which is only looking at ranking the players from a single week. Instead, the above team is a real team optimised for 10GW at least.

Last week it scored 68 points which wasn't bad considering Ozil was the captain. This week we've sold Ozil. And Benteke! For a 4 point hit!

What the projections have basically forecast is that Aguero is so much superior to Benteke, especially with captaincy options, that we needed to get him in. This week's team projection is boosted considerably with the armband moved from Silva to Aguero.

Ozil's high price tag made him more vulnerable than Silva but more than anything Paulihno's forecast is actually superior to them both. This is odd to us and it wrenched on our sanity to do the transfer, especially for a hit but as explained in last week's newsletter we are doing this to solely test the projections.

As the projections are derived from player stats there will always be anomalies but overall when we look at them they always throw up the 'right' players. We have a strange feeling that one day Paulihno may start to turn all these shots into points but if he is a bad apple we hope at least that it's not enough to upset the whole applecart.
