Everton under Martinez are already hotly tipped to play a much more expansive brand of football this coming season. They've now signed a one year loan deal for a player tipped as the hottest prospect at Barcelona since Leo Messi.
Not to be mistaken for an ageing French actor, the young winger's play style is compared favourably with Cristiano Ronaldo - blistering pace and footwork from the wing and an eye for goal.
Competition for places at the Nou Camp from Sanchez, Neymar and Messi coupled with a need to limit over-exposure in the Spanish media for the 19 year old are all hugely to Everton's benefit and he could become the star man of this year's fantasy campaign.
As always there a few ifs and buts. His slight frame could see him imposed upon a bit, and either unable to cope or eased in to Premier League life by Martinez. He's likely to be classed as a forward in FPL and with just three spots to play with in your team and an expected position out on the wing he could prove to be a luxury.
Barca will not have loaned out their next star player just to warm the bench at any old club so we can assume assurances on game-time and how he'll be used have been given by Matinez, who described Deulofeu as "...a real diamond of Spanish football...".
His impact in the Premier League could actually mirror that of Ronaldo at a similar age in his first season with Manchester United. Ronaldo only scored 18 goals in his first 95 league appearances for United. Deulofeu though has a much more impressive goalscoring record at his age scoring 18 goals from 20 starts and 5 sub appearances last season for Barca B.
One thing is for sure, he is certainly a player to get excited about.
