Sorry folks, I don't pick the prices. |
With the price list out for FPL it's time to ask some questions. The BIG name with the BIG price is Robin Van Persie so let's start with him. Check out our Price List "At a Glance" for some other key players and their prices.
Robin Van Persie £14M
HOW MUCH?!
£14 MILLION!
In 2011/12 he started off at £12M, top-scored FPL with 269 points so went up in price to start 2012/13 at £13M. Many baulked, but he top-scored again, this time with 262 points. Despite scoring less points last year compared to the season before though his price has now up again to £14m.
This is too much to be honest. His success last season came about as much as through the absence and failure of other elite options. Rooney was played too deep too often, Aguero struggled with injuries. There was no leading striker at Chelsea, Arsenal or Tottenham.
Do we expect this to be the same this year? Will Manchester United's rivals invest in strong centre forwards this season? We think they will, and this'll give us cheaper options than Van Persie, who might not score as many points but won't hamstring the rest of our FPL team either.
Of course we have plenty of time to wait and see what happens in the transfer market before GW1 but with a tough start for United on top of caution around how David Moyes' will do we envisage plenty leaving Van Persie out of their teams when the season kicks off (and then hiding behind the sofa!).
