Silva's Injured so what about Nasri or Coutinho?

This is a real quick fire post to look at Samir Nasri and Phillipe Coutinho as an alternative to one of our top transfer targets this week, David Silva, who is now confirmed injured for GW11 and possibly for up to a month. If you were looking for our regular Friday Captain's post it's here.

Nasri does not feature too highly in our projections but a closer look at the form cards below is revealing.  He's obviously done alright with a couple of goals and four assists along the way but compared to Silva's stats and involvement he falls short. What is interesting is the 3 games against Stoke, United and Aston Villa which were Nasri's most influential (%Team) were the same 3 missed by Silva. This bodes well for Nasri to take a great role in City's bristling attack.

There's not much to go on for Coutinho this year. He had a great start vesrus Stoke in GW1 but struggled for impact after this and then got injured. A look back to last season's stats though shows a player capable of great things. His low influence early on coincided with Liverpool's struggles for goals. Suarez's return has now alleviated this and the kind of space the Uruguayan creates may grant his fellow South American the freedom to flourish. He's an unknown quantity, a punt for sure, but one with track record and in a team with form.
