6GW Fixture Outlook - Defence

Liam Ridgewell (in case you didn't know)

We have refreshed our Fixture Analyser for GW10 through to GW19. Here's a run down of the best fixtures from a defensive point of view..

Chelsea
Mourinho's men should absolutely dominate over the next 6 or so weeks. Their 6GW outlook is ranked 4th and combine  that with their top defensive performances to date we can see them getting anything up to 6 clean sheets out of the next 7.  However, the immediate game against Newcastle is probably the least likely of these. John Terry is the key pick from our point of view being the bonus point boss from their back line and almost matching Ivanovic for goal threat.

Swansea
There's been a definite improvement to the Swan's defending this season. They aren't defensive heavyweights by any stretch but one of the best possession games can see them starve lower quality teams of the ball and any decent chances. We are big on Chico but with Williams returning to action last week and claiming max bonus plus Rangel offering decent goal and assist threat any will do. They have 6 very decent clean sheet shouts in the next 8.

Liverpool
From hero to zero as far as clean sheets go and FPL managers owning Boruc over Mignolet will be pleased. Whilst GW10's clash with Arsenal is of course not one to bank on, games with FUL(H), HUL(A), NOR(H), WHM(H), CAR(H) will give the Liverpool defence plenty of opportunity to restore some pride. In terms of recommending a player we would go with Mamadou Sakho (£5.5m) simply as he's cheaper and looks the strongest option for bonus points. Glen Johnson (£5.7m) is not a bad idea either.

West Brom
The Baggies are our top tip to be the surprise defensive package over the next few weeks. Their fixtures are decent. Their overall goals against and clean sheets to date is decent. Their mentality is defensively sound. In nets Boaz Myhill makes an astute back-up to Boruc when Southampton have hard games against ARS, CHE and MCI and the same logic goes for their defenders as a home rotation option and stop gap coverage for any Southampton defenders you might have, Liam Ridgewell is our favourite, closely followed by McAuley.

We'll be taking a look at the attacking fixtures and options later this week so stay with us for that.
