Iago Aspas - Liverpool's New Spanish Signing

Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool have been one of the busiest teams so far this summer and recently announced their third new signing, Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo, to add to Luis Alberto from Sevilla and Kolo Toure from City. We're going to take a look at the latest of these and his potential in Fantasy Premier League

Iago Aspas - Forward, 25yrs
Career 2008-2013: Celta de Vigo, 138 appearances, 46 goals
2012/13: 34 Apps, 12 Goals, 7 Assists (102 shots, 49 SoT, 69 Key Passes)

Summary:
Played all but one game last season as a centre forward for Celta but decent number of key passes and assists suggest he can do more than just score goals. He was 16th in the goalscoring tables in La Liga last season, scoring 12 of Celta's 37 goals. Not so hot, however, Celta were not a strong team and finished just 1 point off relegation.

Iago's shot accuracy of 48% is very good though, only Lukaku had better accuracy in the Premier League last season, which suggests he could do well in a more successful team.

FPL Potential:
Hopefully come in quite cheap, around £7-8m, but we expect he'll get classified as a forward in FPL so he'll have to seriously oust Sturridge (or whoever) in the striker's role to get our attention. We think that's unlikely long term and don't expect Iago to be nailed on as Liverpool's season long striker and don't want to use one of our three forward spots for a player who may shift out wide, as his playing profile and Liverpool's system suggests.

Sturridge's progress with the injury suffered on England duty could allow Iago a chance on opening day though and that'll need monitoring.
